Include Central Mail Operations in
all your mailing arrangements. We
can be of assistance to ensure your
mailing program is cost-effective,
efficient, timely and conforms to
USPS requirements.
We currently provide the following
services to our customers:
A. INSERTING
The State
Central Mail Operations currently has
inserters that fold letters, insert
them into envelopes and seal them.
We can insert up to five items
(combination of pages, pre-folded
inserts and reply envelope) into a
standard #10 envelope or into a 6"
by 9 1/2" envelope.
NOTE: The State
Central Mail Operations discontinued
its folding and tabbing service
because it costs more to fold and
tab a mail piece than to fold and
insert it into an envelope, even
when considering the cost of the
envelope.
B. SORTING
Our Multiple Line Optical Character
Reader (MLOCR) Sorter reads an
address, verifies the address is
valid and places a postal barcode on
the mail piece. This gives the
sending agency a discount on
postage. The discount varies,
depending on the quantity going to
certain zip codes. Our sorter
typically processes 30,000 letters
per hour.
C. MAIL PIECE DESIGN
ASSISTANCE
There are numerous USPS
regulations and guidelines that must
be followed to send your mail and
receive postal discounts. We
assist all state agencies with
information regarding USPS
requirements. For additional
information , visit the USPS website
at

D. ADDRESS SERVICES
Correct addresses are critical for
the post office to deliver your
mail. In 2004, the Christensen
Company conducted a study of
Undeliverable as Addressed (UAA)
mail. Of the undeliverable
mail, they found that 75.8% was
move-related and 13.6% was missing
the recipient, had an illegible
address, the recipient was deceased
or the mail was unclaimed. The
remaining did not have or
used the incorrect street, city,
state or zip code. This
represented more than 9.7 billion
pieces of UAA mail at a cost of more
than $1.8 billion.
We have the capability to verify
that your addresses are correct,
down to the point that the address
exists and receives mail. The
same system can print your addresses
onto a postcard in a sorted zip code
sequence. This gives the
sending agency the maximum postage
discount possible.
