1. Effective September 1,
2007, customers using vehicles from
the State Motor Pool will be
required to present a valid driver
license upon checkout.
Customers arriving to check out
vehicles who are not able to show a
valid driver license will not be
allowed to rent vehicles.
2. The hours of operation are
6:30 A.M.-5:30 P.M. Monday through
Friday.
3. If your travel requires departure
outside of normal business hours,
you may check the vehicle out after
3:00 p.m. the day prior to
departure.
4. The Motor Pool vehicles are on a
set performance schedule. Please do
not request a specific vehicle.
5. Non-availability certificates are
issued only when no vehicles are
available for dispatch.
6. No parking is allowed in front of
the Motor Pool office, driveways, or
fuel lanes. For safety reasons, this
area must be clear at all times. The
only exception is fueling a vehicle.
There are now 8 temporary parking
spaces by the gas lanes.
7. Prior to departing the Motor
Pool, make sure the mileage on your
vehicle request form agrees with the
mileage on the odometer. Corrections
must be made prior to departure.
Check to make sure you have a full
tank of fuel prior to leaving the
Motor Pool.
8. While traveling (in-state or
out-of-state), always check to make
sure the service station will accept
the Wright Express credit card
before you pump gas.
9. Fuel must be purchased from the
State Motor Pool. Do not purchase
gasoline within a fifty-mile radius
of Montgomery. Should you need
gasoline, purchase just enough to
get back to the Motor Pool.
10. Gasoline and Ethanol may be
purchased with the Wright Express
Card at the Motor Pool 24 hours a
day (24/7). After business hours,
enter through the Ripley Street gate
to gain access to the pumps, after
fueling continue around the building
and exit back out the Ripley Street
entrance.
11. Vehicles are rented as follows:
Cars are $.35/mile and $15/day. Vans
are $.40/mile and $40/day. Vehicles
not turned in by 8:15 am will be
charged as stated on line #11.
12. You will be charged $10.00 on
the day of rental if the car is not
used by 8:15am and the car will be
placed back into rental service. The
daily rate will also apply if the
car is not returned by 8:15am on the
day following your return to
Montgomery. You are charged for
every day the motor pool car is out.
When requesting a vehicle, you must put
your actual dates of travel, not the
day you want to pick your vehicle
up. This will eliminate weekend
charges – our system is designed to
charge by the dates shown on your
request for vehicle.
13. For emergencies in the Motor
Pool area, there is a telephone on
the first floor next to the
elevator. Pickup the receiver and
you will be connected to the State
Capitol Police. An emergency
telephone is also located in the
elevator.
14. Should you have an accident in a
Motor Pool car, there is a Driver’s
Accident Reporting Packet in the
glove box of your vehicle. However,
if someone is injured, first give
aid to the injured. Do not move the
injured individuals unless
absolutely necessary!
Call the police and then call the
Motor Pool for additional
information at 334-353-0457.
15. When returning a Motor Pool car
during regular
office hours, please park the
vehicle in the assigned place and
take the key and ending odometer
reading to the dispatcher for check
in.
16. When returning a Motor Pool
vehicle after
regular office hours, please place
key, current odometer reading and
date and time you returned the
vehicle in the drop-box located on
the 1st floor of the parking deck,
near the elevator. The drop box slot
is located in the side door.
17. If you should lock the keys in a
Motor Pool vehicle or lose Motor
Pool keys, you are responsible for
the cost associated with opening the
vehicle or replacing the key. You
must notify the Motor Pool should
this ever happen to get the key code
so that a dealership can make a
duplicate key.
18. After unloading your vehicle, be
sure to turn the dome light off and
lock all doors.
19. The State Motor Pool building is
a smoke free facility. The State
Motor Pool cars are smoke free as
well. The cars will be checked after
each trip. Any violation of this
rule will be reported to the users
supervisor and a minimum $40
service/clean up fee will be charged
to your department.
20. Please leave the Motor Pool cars
clean and free of trash. If the car
is left overly dirty or trashy, a
minimum $40 service/clean up will be
charged to your department.
21. Inspect your vehicle and report
any body damages or dirty vehicles to the dispatcher
prior to departing the Motor Pool.
Unreported damage or exceptionally
dirty vehicles may be charged to
your department.
22. In the event that you experience
a vehicle failure, we now have
Roadside Assistance. There is an
informational card in the gas card
holder attached to your Motor Pool
key. Please call 1-866-239-3471; the
operator will assist you. Once you
have spoken with the Roadside
Assistance office, please contact
Jimmy Kinard at (334) 353-0457 to
let him know about the trouble.
23. Each Motor Pool vehicle has a
designated parking space. The Motor
Pool customer may park their
personal vehicle in the slot of the
vehicle that is assigned to them.
However, additional passengers must
park their personal vehicles on the
third deck. If someone has parked in
the wrong space, please park the MP
car in the temporary parking area
and advise the dispatcher.
24. The driver picking up the motor
pool car should take the motor pool
car up to the third deck to load up
any additional passengers and
luggage.
25. When requesting a vehicle, the
rental period cannot exceed 5
consecutive days. If you need a
vehicle for more than 5 days, you
will be required to check one
vehicle in and get another for the
next travel request.
26. The Motor Pool gate is open
5:30am-5:30pm. To access the gate
after hours, you will need to enter
a 5-digit code. The code is 4 + your
provider code + the pound (#) key –
for example, if your provider code
is 1234, your 5-digit gate code will
be 41234#. The gate will
automatically open, once you enter
the code. Wait for the gate to fully
open before you drive through. To
exit the gate, pull up to the right
side of the gate and stop. The gate
will automatically open to allow you
to exit. Wait for the gate to fully
open before you drive through.
